The Community of Bishops Bay

Q. Where did you move from, and how did you end up in The Community of Bishops Bay?

A. We moved from the Southbridge neighborhood in Waunakee. The Community of Bishops Bay was a natural choice, a prairie view from our front door and a backyard overlooking  the golf course.

Q. How do you spend time around the area? Are you involved in the community?

A. We enjoy playing golf and pickleball at Bishops Bay Country Club, and taking walks through Governor Nelson Park. Both are conveniently located to our home.

Q. Could you explain what it is about the neighborhood that you enjoy?

A. Being surrounded by nature - seeing a red-tailed hawk soaring in wide circles; swallows diving for insects; hearing the wild turkeys when a storm is approaching; deer grazing on tufts of grass poking through the snow; seeing the wild flowers bloom; not to forget the colors of our beautiful sunsets. And, our friendly neighbors are a bonus.

Q. Are there particular features or design elements that you are happy were incorporated into your new home?

A. The design elements that we are most excited about are the contemporary kitchen, which has a beautiful, clean design and a walk in pantry to keep our kitchen surfaces uncluttered. The living area’s clerestory windows and high ceilings, accent wall and wood burning fire place on our screened in patio.

Q. Were there any surprises of building a new home?

A. We were lucky, Dan and his capable team made building a new home a seamless process.

Q. Did you have a favorite part of the building process?

A. Jaclyn and Renee played a pivotal role in realizing our ideas. They were always professional during our meetings, knowledgeable and helpful, supportive and patient.

Q. If you could offer advice about building, what would it be?

A. I think it is helpful to have an idea of what you want your house to look like, and plan the living spaces to suit your needs. Houzz.com, for example, is a wonderful source with lots of ideas, and they highlight real homes in any style.
